With the Universal Viewer, you can instantly turn any .BMP image into your Windows wallpaper... view any image from all the major file formats... and quickly play videos in AVI format. Most basic paint programs let you view only a few file formats. Universal Viewer gives you access to .GIF, .TIF and Targa files in addition to the standard .BMP and .PCX formats.
Image Archives

The 200 photographs on this disk are stored in two formats, 256-color 8-bit files and 16 million color 24-bit files. Programs use the 256-color versions to ensure the widest compatibility with various types of video cards. Apollo-era photographs are stored in directories \images\apollo8 and \images\apollo24 depending on whether they are 8 or 24 bit. Future-oriented photographs, and robotic spacecraft, are in directories \images\notapol8 or \images\notapo24, respectively.
Universal viewer also plays sounds, found in the \audio directory, and videos, found in the \video directory.
Starting the Viewer
--------------------------------
You can start Universal Viewer from the filmstrip UniViewer icon in the Return to the Moon program group. It can view images from any directory on your computer.
